Shift Up, the studio behind Stellar Blade, previously confirmed it was already working on a sequel. Now, a new job listing reveals that the next title is being developed for “multiple platforms,” which includes more than one console as well as PC.

It’s not surprising that such a successful game is getting a sequel. However, the first Stellar Blade was initially released exclusively on the PS5 before later being ported to PC. This time, Shift Up seems ready to bring the series to even more platforms right from the start.

“The next installment of ‘Stellar Blade’, currently under development at Shift Up, is a AAA multiplatform action game that expands the world of global hit ‘Stellar Blade’,” the studio wrote in its job posting (via Genki_JPN).

The posting further states, “Aiming for release on various platforms, including consoles and PC, the game will inherit the stylish action and narrative-driven world of its predecessor, while delivering an evolved action gameplay experience.”

While the text highlights Stellar Blade 2 as a multiplatform project, it refers to “consoles” in the plural, practically confirming it will release beyond PlayStation.

However, this still does not rule out the possibility of a temporary exclusivity deal. Ideally, a true multiplatform title should have all versions planned from the start, even if some ports are released later due to technical or marketing reasons.

The last major Stellar Blade update added three new epilogues for players who finished the game. Now that the PC port is out, it’s unlikely we’ll get more major content — expect mostly bug fixes and small tweaks instead.

In other news, Shift Up’s director previously admitted that the story in the original Stellar Blade is lacking and explained that production costs forced the team to cut back on cutscenes and narrative details that had been planned for the initial release.
