Street Fighter 6 Features a Dynamic Control Scheme for “Button Mashers” and Here’s How It Looks

street fighter 6 review

Street Fighter 6 features a “Dynamic” control setup that gives “button mashers” a way to excel in the game. How it works is, the Dynamic control scheme will have an AI predict function and perform the moves for the players.

Game Director Takayuki Nakayama sat down with Game Informer and revealed the third control scheme for Street Fighter 6. Game Informer explains that the new Dynamic control schemes allow the AI to decide which attack to perform based on multiple factors, including your character’s position and situation.

The publication shared a gameplay video using the Dynamic control scheme as well:

Game Informer writes “…if a character is far away, pressing the face button might throw a projectile, while that same button might pull off a combo in an up-close encounter.”

Nakayama tells GI that he was inspired by the “button masher” term. He says “In a normal fighting game, when they [mash buttons], they just do a lot of whiffs. We wanted something important and something that makes a difference happen by randomly pressing buttons.”

However, Capcom has also said that the Dynamic controls in Street Fighter 6 will be available only in local play. The “button masher” layout is explicitly meant to be equal to an “easy mode,” and will not be available during online play, unlike the Modern and Classic controls (with the two controller input options explained here).

Capcom also revealed the full roster of fighters available at launch for Street Fighter 6, you can check it out right here.
