Tekken 8 South Korea Rating Surfaces

Tekken 8 South Korea Rating

Bandai Namco’s Tekken 8 just received its rating in South Korea from the Game Rating and Administration Committee. This rating was exclusively mentioning the PC version, but it’s known that the next chapter in the popular fighting franchise is also coming to consoles. With Tekken 8 rated, this means that we are one step closer to a release date announcement.

The news was discovered by Yellow_Motion, a Tekken enthusiast, and shared on Twitter with some additional context regarding a possible launch timeframe. The classification request was submitted on August 7 and approved on August 11, now it’s time to wait on the official release date announcement.

Tekken 8 Rated in South Korea, Early 2024 Launch Likely

In the same tweet reporting the classification, Yellow_Motion looked back into the story of Tekken and came up with some interesting facts, but take them with a pinch of salt. Tekken 7 launched just four months after being rated, so in the case of the upcoming fighting game, it would mean that Tekken 8 could release by December 2023. That would be a very surprising move though, as Bandai Namco has also previously admitted to its goal of releasing the game “after 2023,” as you can see in the same tweet.

In the end, the most likely scenario is a Tekken 8 launch before or around the end of this fiscal year, in March 2024, so don’t be too hopeful for anything before that.

A Tekken 8 partial roster leak confirms some of the fighters that you can expect to find in the game, and some images were already circulating, prompting Bandai Namco to issue a few takedown notices including copyright strikes to avoid them spreading.

Tekken 8 is powered by Unreal Engine 5 and this is probably the strongest reason why it is skipping last-generation consoles. It is under development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
