The Blood of Dawnwalker Features Multiple Epilogues, Choices Carry Into Sequels
Developer Rebel Wolves has not been coy in pushing their debut game, The Blood of Dawnwalker, as the next great RPG franchise.
In the game, players will take on the role of Coen, a half-human, half-vampire hybrid that people will be able to shape the way they want. If you want your Coen to go full-on dark side, you can do that; but if you want to be a beacon of light justs with fans, you can do that too.
The action-RPG will let players choose how they want to play, much like BioWare’s Mass Effect trilogy, which is one of the best gaming trilogies of all-time.
Another way The Blood of Dawnwalker is similar to Mass Effect is that your choices in the first game carry over to subsequent installments of this would-be franchise.
The Blood of Dawnwalker Will Take Into Consideration How You Play as Coen
Speaking in an interview, Game Director, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, and Narrative Designer, Piotr Kucharski talked about the game’s dynamic story, and how choices the player makes will transfer over to sequels — something which Rebel Wolves has confirmed they have already mapped out, and will span centuries and cultures around the world.
Tomaszkiewicz notes, “The promise is that we will keep this character, that we will grow with Coen, that you can shape him, that you can transfer your shapes, and your choices will be taken into consideration in the next parts. This way, you will be able to know some really consistent adventure, and this story through all the games.”
Given the game isn’t out yet, we don’t know just what big choices players can make that will greatly change the story. However, one thing we do know is that whatever choices the player makes will affect the game’s epilogue.
The developers confirmed they each have a favorite ending to Dawnwalker, and when asked if there’s a popular one, Kucharski answered, ”
I think it’s quite hard to say, because it also, I think, depends on what kind of Coen you want to play, because you also have some influence on how Coen turns out by the end of the game. I think that the game really supports your choices, because you can embrace the day side, you can embrace the night side, so you can have fun with that, and in the end, I think the epilogue you will get will be the one you crafted on your own.”
Safe to say, players should expect a fair amount of replay value from The Blood of Dawnwalker, given there are multiple endings and epilogues to experience.
In addition to that, Rebel Wolves has confirmed they are already planning “smaller, free” DLCs for the action-RPG.
The Blood of Dawnwalker will be released on September 3 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
