The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered future patch

Since its release, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered hasn’t really received a lot of updates since it was released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, but that might be changing soon.

Thanks to the release of the Switch 2 port of the RPG, Bethesda Game Studios seems to be more eager to talk about The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered once again.

Today, the studio has seemingly confirmed its willingness to further work on the game’s stability and performance.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered Future Update Seemingly Confirmed

Over on X (formerly Twitter), the official Bethesda Game Studios account replied to its own tweet promoting the Switch 2 version of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, and said, “We’ve heard your feedback asking for an additional patch for Oblivion Remastered. The Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game has a number of optimizations that we are looking into bringing to other platforms and we will share more when we are able.”

No timetable or list of fixes were shared, but off the top of our head, we’re hoping this upcoming update will address some of the following issues, such as:

  • Arena bug – getting stuck/disarmed during an Arena fight where the players weapon can become inaccessible and you effectively can’t continue the match normally.
  • Performance improvements on all platforms, and most notably, handheld PCs
  • Robe leg clipping bug
  • Sneak attack multiplier bug
  • Steel claymore not using the correct model
  • Thieves Guild quest issue – Amusei disappears during “May the Best Thief Win,” the quest where you compete with other thieves to steal Amantius Allectus’ diary.
  • Weatherleah quest bug – Ogres don’t spawn, or they’re way too far from Weatherleah
  • Crashing issues that still prevail to this day
  • Stuttering issues and frame rate drops
  • Hitching issues, and no, downgrading the visuals is not a fix

I’m certain there are more quests that are bugged, but for the most part, it’s the stuttering that gets to players since it virtually makes the game a chore to play.

Mind, the studio hearing feedback isn’t new, as gamers on both consoles and PC were sharing feedback on various social forums regarding the game’s issues. One year later, and we haven’t seen any update or acknowledgment until today. Let’s hope this is an actual update being developed and not lip service just because the Switch 2 version is being promoted.

The last patch that we know of was released on July 16, 2025, which means it’s been more than a year since we last saw an update

Do you believe Bethesda will release a patch for TES4: Oblivion Remastered or is this just another marketing ploy just to promote the Switch 2 version?
