TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection Has Sold Over 1 Million Copies

Konami’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle games are enjoying a second life nearly 30 years after the release of the Tournament Fighters NES title. The company has announced that TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection has sold over a million copies less than a year into release, serving as testament to the longevity of the beloved titles.

TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection is a compilation of thirteen TMNT games released by Konami between 1989 and 1984, beginning with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and ending with TMNT: Tournament Fighters, both on the NES. The new Digital Eclipse-developed compilation adds several quality-of-life features including save states, rewind functions, button mapping, and multiplayer for certain games in the collection.

Konami also revealed the following gameplay statistics aggregated from players over the last year for TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection:

  • Six million pizzas eaten
  • 350 million Foot Soldiers defeated
  • Two million of Shredder’s plans shredded
  • One million times the Turtles saved their friends

TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection is available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
