Ubisoft has been going through a difficult time in recent years. Several of its major projects struggled to meet expectations. The publisher has also canceled multiple in-development games as part of internal restructuring

Amid these struggles, Ubisoft’s game sales have become a mystery. The French publisher has stopped sharing its sales data with the public, leaving many to wonder why the company has become so secretive about its numbers.

Why Ubisoft Has Stopped Sharing Its Game Sales Data?

Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Until June this year, Ubisoft regularly shared its sales data with Circana, a well-known market research company that works closely with industry analyst Mat Piscatella. However, in July, Assassin’s Creed Shadows disappeared from Circana’s charts — not necessarily because its sales dropped, but because Ubisoft stopped providing its data to the firm. On social media, Mat Piscatella himself confirmed Ubisoft’s silence in a post.

Many believe the company’s decision not to share its figures may be an attempt to avoid negative attention or public criticism about the performance of its titles. As mentioned earlier, Ubisoft has faced a rough period over the past few months, following disappointing results from Star Wars Outlaws. Although Assassin’s Creed Shadows helped recover some of the company’s momentum, it also sparked heated debates online, with some accusing Ubisoft of using bots to promote Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

For now, it remains to be seen whether Ubisoft will resume sharing its sales figures in the future, or if the company’s sales data will continue to remain under wraps.

In other news, an Assassin’s Creed game set during the post-American Civil War period was reportedly canceled, with reasons including the backlash surrounding Assassin’s Creed: Shadows and the current political climate in the United States.

It wouldn’t surprise me if by the end of the month they announce they are moving away from being a gaming company and are shifting into the consumer durables market. No more Assassins Creed, buy their Ubi+ MicroPC on Amazon instead!

I mean what company announces they’ve got ZERO games coming out within the next year, everything has been cancelled or delayed and intentionally crash their share values?? If they only wanted to get an 8-10% dip (instead of 33%) they would have announced Black Flag Resynced AND THEN say they needed more time to work on other stuff…

So yeah, it makes sense that they will no longer announce game sale data, they’ve literally got no games – so that number will be 0.0 for the next 12 months.

I mean they are telling us, they’re just not directly telling us. It’s like when Bethesda refused to allow reviews before game releases. The writing was on the wall for the direction they were headed then. It didn’t take a brain surgeon to know that wasn’t good news.
