A couple of months ago, we saw that Valve had registered Steam Frame, and now a new rumor suggests that the company could reveal this new hardware as soon as this week, possibly alongside a brand-new Steam Controller.

The information comes from dataminer and leaker SadlyItsBradley, who has a strong track record with Valve news.

Valve Could Reveal Steam Frame and a New Steam Controller This Week

The new Steam Controller will look like this when it launches.

In a recent message shared on Discord, he mentioned that the announcement could happen on Wednesday, November 12.

Steam Frame is expected to be connected to virtual reality, though it likely won’t be a traditional VR headset. Instead, Valve seems to be working on something closer to Apple’s take on spatial computing, aiming for an immersive experience that’s still simple and accessible.

The device is said to focus on improving traditional flat-screen gaming by adding spatial elements. For instance, the screen could light up the room, project shadows, or integrate virtual objects into the real world.

However, the basic idea seems close to the Steam Deck. It aims to offer simple, affordable gaming in a single device, without trying to achieve ultra-realistic graphics or advanced motion tracking like high-end VR systems.

In short, Valve seems to be bringing regular gaming closer to virtual reality instead of pushing further into traditional VR, which still hasn’t managed to reach a large audience.

Alongside this, the new Steam Controller could support different ways to play. It is rumored to include finger tracking similar to the Valve Index, along with regular buttons and analog sticks. The controller may also work with the Steam Frame.

He also shared an image of the Steam Controller, but clarified that the photo was AI-generated. According to him, “It’s an AI slop photo. Trained on a real image of the new controller. It was just fast and easy to do it this way. I was not going to post the original one just in case it reveals any sensitive info from the source.”

Of course, these are still just rumors, and we should take them with a pinch of salt. As we get more information, we will make sure to keep you updated here at MP1st.

$1200 isn’t “affordable”

I’m doing just fine with my $300 Quest 3S

VR shouldn’t cost more than $400, especially when portable devices are only $300. Steam really needs to put out something competitive to that, rather than try to take on Apple Vison (which flopped and was a complete waste of money and everyone who bought one should be ashamed of themselves).
