Virtua Fighter Crossroads Announced and It’s Unconventional Approach to the Fighting Game Genre
It was announced last year that Yakuza developer RGG Studios was working on the Virtua Fighter franchise.
Today, at Summer Game Fest, SEGA is ready to reveal more, as the game is officially titled “Virtua Fughter Crossroads,” and it’s not like your granddaddy’s Virtua Fighter.

Virtua Fighter Crossroads Is a Different Take on the Franchise
Per the press release: “In the trailer featuring new fighter Cielo, fans got just a taste of the cinematic narrative and intense action that will define RGG Studio’s foray into this unconventional new approach to the fighting game genre, all while retaining the series’ core legacy of pure, realistic combat with simple controls that made it a pillar of the industry.”
Expect more info to be revealed later, as a dedicated showcase for the game is set to air later at 5 pm PDT/8 am EDT.
No release date has been given, but Virtua Fighter Crossroads is confirmed for release in 2027 for consoles and PC.
