New Virtua Fighter Gameplay Breaks Out and It’s as Impressive as the Reveal Trailer; More Info at TGS 2025
Last year, SEGA announced that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio (Like A Dragon franchise) was working on a new Virtua Fighter project. While the game still has a ways to go before it’s entirely revealed, the publisher and studio made a surprise appearance during today’s EVO 2025 finals, giving us a brand-new teaser for the project.
Here’s our first look at the new Virtua Fighter gameplay, and RGG goes into it without any fluff, which we approve of.
New Virtua Fighter Project Stuns In First Look
Clocking in at a little over a minute, the short gameplay teaser leaves a rather good impression for fighting fans. Where other fighters opt to be flashy and over-the-top with super moves and visual effects (nothing wrong with that), the new Virtua Fighter project appears to double down on its franchise’s core identity of grounded, more “realistic” martial arts.
There’s undoubtedly a sense of “brutality” behind each hit, with animation looking superbly clean, with a big focus on making it appear more “natural” compared to other fighters. Incidentally, did you know the first reveal trailer was a 1:1 recreation of one of Jackie Chan’s films?
It looks great from the short teaser, and we cannot wait to see more of it. Luckily, SEGA has promised to provide more information on the project at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, scheduled to run from September 25 to 28, 2025.
