World War Z: Aftermath Gets Free Next-Gen Upgrade and New Horde Mode XL on Jan. 24

World War Z Update 1.56

World War Z: Aftermath is getting a free next-gen upgrade this January 24, giving owners of PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game the chance to upgrade to modern console versions at no extra cost.

Alongside the free upgrade, the new Horde Mode XL is set to arrive on the same day. Take a look at the trailer for Horde Mode XL below.

As the name suggests, Horde Mode XL is just like regular Horde Mode, but with even more zombies.

Horde Mode XL follows the same rules as the game’s standard Horde Mode, with a devilish twist — scattered among the normal waves of enemies will be a special XL wave bursting with over 1,000 hungry zombies. You and your team will have to pull out all the stops to survive this overwhelming and terrifying challenge.

Both the official launch of the next-gen console versions and Horde Mode XL are expected to arrive on January 24. If you’re considering getting the game or are hungry for some more World War Z: Aftermath content, give our review of the game a read. Here’s a snippet: “While the first-person perspective has been implemented well, it’s hard to turn down the added visibility that a third-person camera offers you, and a true ADS mechanic is sorely lacking. If you’re looking to shoot some zombies in the face with your friends without thinking too much about it though, Aftermath should be right up your alley.”
