Ahead of Xbox’s upcoming Games Showcase, Aaron Greenberg, Vice President of Xbox Marketing has provided some details on what fans can expect to see at the showcase, including no full CGI trailers for Xbox first-party games, no movie trailers, and more.

Greenberg initially took to Twitter to share his excitement about the upcoming showcase, saying there’s only “7 days until our first ever double feature. He confirms that the showcase is “roughly two hours of non stop games, games, games, games, and Starfield!”

Xbox Games Showcase will follow directly with a Starfield Direct which would give fans a deep dive into the world of Starfield. The length of both of these shows combined is roughly two hours according to the VP of Microsoft games marketing.

Then, Aaron went on to reply to a series of tweets and questions from the fans. When a fan suggested that Xbox should show gameplay instead of CGI for its games at the showcase, Greenberg confirmed that none of Xbox’s first party “are full CG trailers.” Games shown will either be in-game footage, in-engine footage, or in-game footage with some cinematics. He also adds that the trailer would be labeled to provide more clarity for fans.

Replying to another fan, the VP also confirmed that the showcase will have no movie or TV show trailers which was a common complaint by fans in last week’s PlayStation Showcase. Fans who were hoping to see the trailer for the upcoming Fallout TV show at the Xbox Games Showcase will have to wait a bit longer.

Last year, Xbox took a new approach with its showcase. They only showed games that were coming out in the next “12 months.” However, things didn’t turn out in Xbox’s favor with many of the games at the showcase shown being delayed or having no fixed release date for the first half of 2023, including its first-party titles, Starfield and Forza Motorsport.

However, some fans still believed that Xbox will keep the same “Next 12 Months” marketing approach for this year’s showcase. But, Greenberg stated otherwise, confirming that Microsoft will be dropping this approach for its upcoming show next week. He replied a firm “No” when asked about it on Twitter.

  1. No “full CG” trailers for Xbox first-party games
  2. Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct will be “roughly two hours”
  3. There will be no movie or TV show trailers
  4. Microsoft won’t be reusing the “Next 12 Months” marketing approach

Xbox Games Showcase is set to stream on June 11 at 1 pm ET, followed directly by Starfield Direct. Xbox Games Showcase Extended will follow suit on June 13 at 1 pm ET and will feature detailed interviews focused on the announcements made at the showcase.

Well that sounds lame no trailers for Xbox first party games, no movie or tv show trailers. Only showing games for the next 12 months, because that went over well last time.
