While Microsoft hasn’t commented on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s commercial performance, the action-adventure game will see a huge boost in sales thanks to its release on PS5 starting today.

Could we see a sequel announced sometime soon? Based on recent comments from Xbox division boss Phil Spencer, that seems like a genuine possibility.

Xbox’s Phil Spencer “Really Happy” With Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Players and Reception

In an interview with entertainment publication Variety, Spencer was asked about the larger plans they have to update the game, and as well as seeing it as a potential franchise.

While Spencer’s answer didn’t outright confirm a sequel, it was still quite telling. “I will say, we’re really happy with ‘Indy’ and the players and the reception. We do think there’s life in that franchise, and I’m just gonna leave it at that. We’re launching on PlayStation here pretty soon. I think that’ll be a cool moment. I was really inspired by Machine Games taking someone else’s IP and doing something so unique, and I’m inspired about what that team can do next. Certain people were kind of pushing them on the first person versus third person. And I think once you play it, you realize you are Indy. But going forward, I also want to give the teams the ability to do our own games and our own franchises. We have a lot of room to tell new stories, as well. And I want to make sure that’s an option for us,” Spencer said.

That seems like an almost-confirmation, right? The last update we had when it comes to the game’s player success, is Microsoft confirming the game has managed to hit over four million players on Xbox and PC. With the game’s release on PS5, that number will surely skyrocket, unless PS5 gamers have an aversion to great action games.

To date, MachineGames’ debut Indiana Jones game has a “Mighty” rating on Open Critic, and an 86 score average on Metacritic. Our review, which dives more into its technical comparisons to the Xbox Series X version, was also quite glowing.

The next thing gamers can look forward to about the game is its The Order of the Giants DLC, which has no release date for now.

Another episode of Slimy Soencer Spews just dropped. I wouldn’t listen to any of it or take anything this man says as fact.
After what he just said, Machine Games will probably downscale with layoffs next month or shutter entirely and will no shock to anybody whatsoever with half a brain cell that follows the games industry.

This man ruins and destroys franchises and studios and developers….. and that is a historical fact.
