MODDING
- On console, added a 100-mod limit to prevent stability issues. Savegames that exceed this limit cannot be loaded for the time being. A follow-up fix is planned to give you the means to restore these saves.
GAME
Crashes and Blockers
- On Xbox, fixed a crash when suspending the game while flicking through the multiplayer lobby settings.
Alongside this, Larian explained a few things regarding mods and how it affects consoles.
Console Platform File Limits
Unlike PC, consoles can only “juggle so many files at once,” which is why some are experiencing slowdown, and this is due to to the number of mods installed.
There is now a 100-mod limit for consoles with today’s patch. So what if you already have more than 100 mod installed before the patch? Larian states, “If you’ve already got more than 100 mods enabled on a console save, you won’t be able to load it for the time being. If you play on both PC and console using cross-saves and have more than 100 mods enabled on a save, you may be able to disable the number of active mods from your PC, so that you can continue accessing your cross-save on console.”
Larian will release another patch soon that aims to give players means to access console saves that were disabled with today’s patch. Larian adds, “it is important to note that mods can cause general instability, particularly on console, and depending on the mods you’ve had enabled on a save, you may run into issues when certain mods are disabled.”
Things To Keep In Mind For PC Cross-Saves
For those playing with cross-saves enabled, you will need to respect the console limits when playing on PC.
More Mods Being Tested For Console
Larian has a new video out where the studio explains the technical limitations and guidelines in place for mods.
As you can see, there are more patches on the way, and once that’s out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.
