Code Vein 2 Update 1.004 Released in March Applies Balance Adjustments, More Patches Dropping This Month
Action-RPG Code Vein 2 just got a new game update from Bandai Namco Studios, and this isn’t for your standard bug fixes, as this also includes balance changes.
Console gamers will see Code Vein 2 update 1.004 (complete version 1.004.000) live on consoles and PC, and this applies a good amount of balance adjustments.
Not only that, but the developers even shared some of the upcoming changes due for release later this month,
Code Vein 2 First March Update Applies Balance Changes
Ver.1.0.4 / 1.0.5 (March 3)
Focus: Targeted Performance Tweaks
PS5 / XSX|S / STEAM
- Lowered the physics processing demand on certain bosses.
CPU — Frame Rate Stabilization - Eased the performance spikes caused by auto-saving while moving.
CPU — Stutter Reduction - Resolved bugs that were causing unnecessary system strain.
CPU — Frame Rate Stabilization / Stutter Reduction
Focus: “Action Priority” Mode Tuning
PS5 / XSX|S / STEAM
-
Lightened the processing load while playing in “Action Priority” mode.
GPU — Frame Rate Stabilization
Performance & Stability Improvements
CPU
Combat Processing Load Reduction & Frame Rate Improvements:
- Reduced the processing load (calculation volume) for certain boss enemies to mitigate frame rate drops.
CPU
Field Exploration Processing Adjustments:
- Reduced processing load in certain dungeons.
- Reduced hitching by adjusting frequency of auto-saves during movement.
GPU
“Action Priority” Mode Optimization (PS5 & Xbox Series X|S only):
- Reduced the gameplay processing load when the “Action Priority” mode is selected.
CPU
Enemy-Related Bug Fixes:
- Fixed an issue where the model calculation processing for certain field enemies unintentionally increased (resulting in excessive CPU load).
CPU
Fast Travel Bug Fixes (Steam only):
- Fixed an issue where the frame rate would significantly drop after using fast travel.
Action Balance Adjustments
To ensure a proper balance of action advantage between the player and enemies, we have made the following adjustments:
Player Action Adjustments
- Reduced the recovery time (the time before defense or evasion becomes possible) after attacks, staggering, being knocked down, using “Regeneration,” and using items.
- Increased rolling speed and reduced the recovery time after a roll.
- Increased the speed of certain attack actions (various magic formats / normal attacks for the “Hammer” weapon category).
Enemy Adjustments
- Adjusted the action intervals for certain boss enemies to increase the player’s attack opportunities.
- Reduced the invincibility time when enemies are knocked down and extended the time available for follow-up attacks.
- Resolved an issue where certain field enemies were overly difficult to stagger.
- Reduced the frequency at which boss enemies perform “attack actions in response to player healing.”
Parameter Adjustments
- Based on the action adjustments above, we’ve tuned the “ease of staggering enemies” and “ease of breaking enemies” parameters tied to player attacks.
- Rebalanced instances where the “ease of staggering enemies” was either too high or too low.
- Adjusted the balance for instances where the “ease of breaking enemies” was too high.
Character Customization Additions
- Improved player walking and running animations.
- Improved sound effects (SE) upon successful execution of specific actions (parrying, back attacks, and breaks).
Alongside today’s changes, Bandai Namco outlined some of the changes inbound this month via a different title update.
2026 Mid–Late March – Ver. 1.0.6
Focus: Character-Related Processing Load Reduction
PS5 / XSS|X / Steam
- Reduced the physics strain for enemies and NPCs out in the world.
CPU – Frame Rate Stabilization - Lowered the performance hit when enemies spawn in.
CPU – Stutter Reduction
2026 March~ – Ver. 1.0.7~
Focus: Field Loading Optimization
PS5 / XSS|X / Steam
-
Optimized how the game loads in collision, enemies, and NPC paths, zeroing in on areas where we’ve seen stuttering happen.
CPU – Frame Rate Stabilization / Stutter Reduction
Focus: VFX Processing Load Reduction
PS5 / XSS|X / Steam
-
Reduced the processing load during enemy spawns.
GPU – Frame Rate Stabilization
Once the other updates are live, we’ll let our readers know, so stay tuned.
