Control Resonant First Hotfix Released on September 24 to Adjust Enemy Sponginess via Update 1.300.300
Remedy Entertainment has deployed the first hotfix for Control Resonant since the game launched today, and it’s one that will greatly improve the combat experience.
Those on consoles, PS5 players will see this download as Control Resonant update 1.300.300, while those on Xbox will see the patch as version 1.3.3.0. It clocks in at just 350 MB (PS5), and should be a small download across all platforms.
If you’ve played the game and felt the enemies were a bit too spongy, today’s update should fix that.
For what got changed and Remedy’s explanation, read on.
Control Resonant First Update Applies Combat Improvements
Enemy Health and Dylan’s Combat Strength
We strongly believe these changes will improve the gameplay feel and flow while still providing a challenge.
Depending on player progression, enemies can feel too tanky during the early hours of the game. To address this, we are making the following changes:
- Reduce the base health and required Falter (stun) level of most enemies, as well as the Dancer and Deserter bosses
- Increase maximum Aberrant Strength and maximum Ability Strength
- These strength increases follow a curve, with progressively larger increases towards the end. The more upgrades you have, the more damage you deal.
Assist Mode
If you want to tweak the game further to your liking and tailor individual parts of the experience, such as enemy aggression, incoming damage, or how quickly Dylan recovers his abilities, the Assist Mode is there for you in the Gameplay menu of the game’s options. You can use the sliders to adjust the difficulty to your preference and have much more control over individual aspects of the experience, even to make the game more harder if you want!
Respeccing
To encourage buildcrafting and experimentation, we are permanently reducing the cost of respeccing and increasing the stock of these “Reset Items” across all vendors in the game.
- In addition, the first Resonant boss fight (The Artist) will now drop two “Reset Items” instead of one.
UI Text Updates
We will also update a couple of English UI texts to explain Build Power and Aberrant Strength better. These text changes will be English-only for now, with localizations to follow as soon as possible.
- Aberrant Strength: “Multiplier X%” will now be: “Damage and Falter X%”.
- Build Power: “Calculated based on equipped Weapon Forms, Talents and Core Upgrades.” will now be: “From unlocked Combat Abilities, Aberrant forms/upgrades, Talents, and Core Upgrades.”
If you’ve yet try the game, it’s another Remedy hit! Check out our review where we state, ”
It’s not without its faults, addressable ones, mind you, but all in all, Control Resonant is yet another must-play recommendation for a Remedy-developed game, a pattern I hope to see continue with future releases.”
