Death Stranding 2 Update 1.014

Following the release of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach on PC, which also saw the PS5 version get a content drop that added various new features and content, Kojima Productions has now released a new game update today, April 7.

PS5 gamers will see this download as Death Stranding 2 update 1.014 (complete version 1.014.000), and given we just received a feature-packed update last month, don’t expect much from this outside of fixes.

Death Stranding 2 Drops on April 7, Bringing the Game to Version 1.014

So far, Kojima Productions has not mentioned anything about today’s patch. There was one released for the PC version last week that included the following fixes as part of patch version 1.2:

  • Performance improvements on systems with limited PCIe bandwidth.
  • Improved performance on Steam Deck.
  • Various crash fixes, stability improvements, and performance optimizations.
  • Photo Mode screenshots taken in HDR no longer appear to be washed out.
  • DualShock 4 triggers no longer need to be pressed fully to register input when using Steam Input.
  • Various bug fixes related to the Map user interface.
  • Various bug fixes and improvements related to graphics.
  • Various input and user interface related improvements and bug fixes.

According to port developer Nixxes, they are aware of frame rate drops that occur when players use the sniper rifle scope. The devs have a fix in the works and will be available in an upcoming patch, and offered the following workaround solution for now: If you are experiencing this, as a workaround, you can try lowering the Level of Detail and/or Texture Quality setting to improve your experience.

More improvements targeting handhelds like the Steam Deck are also on the way.

As for the PS5 version, expect today’s update to fix issues that surfaced from last month’s content drop. For those who haven’t logged in and updated the game, last month’s update included the following new stuff for free:

  • New Difficulty Mode “To The Wilder” Added
  • “Trapped in a Strange Realm” VR Training Area Added
  • Chiral Cat Added to Sam’s Room
  • Connection Bonuses
  • New live-action cutscenes that were originally cut due to capacity limits
  • New footage added and this includes new nightmares experienced by Sam
  • New items
  • adjustments are being implemented based on gameplay data from players around the world

If Kojima Productions or Sony releases any official changelog, we’ll add it to the article.
