Final Fantasy 7 Remake Update 1.005

Square Enix has released a surprise patch for Final Fantasy 7 Remake on PC and PS5 today, February 18. While this doesn’t contain any new story missions, it does roll out new items for players. Console gamers will see the download appear as Final Fantasy 7 Remake update 1.005 (complete version 1.005.000), while it’ll show up as version 1.007 for PC players.

Don’t expect much from this update, as for all intents and purposes, FF7 Remake development is done, as future story stuff continued in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and the upcoming concluding chapter that has yet to be dated.

Read on for what’s new in today’s patch.

Per Square Enix, today’s patch adds the following:

  • The Revival Earrings and Survival Set are now available. These items can be obtained from the Gift Box accessible via the main menu.

There are no gameplay-related changes or adjustments in today’s patch, which is something we never expected to be adjusted anyway.

Looking ahead, for those who own Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, “Streamlined Progression” is set to be released to the PS5 and PC versions soon once the Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox versions are released in June.

For those unfamiliar with Streamlined Progression will let players keep all gauges fully charted and continually hit for 9999 damage. There’s a lot more to it than just that, but you get the idea.

In other Final Fantasy news, Square Enix has confirmed the third — and final game — in the chapter is being developed with PC being the lead development platform.
