Grand Theft Auto 5 Update 1.009.001 Released on PS5 This Oct. 22
Rockstar Games has released Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5) update 1.009.001 on PS5, and as one might expect, given this is s platform-specific patch, there’s no new content introduced by the developers.
This is primarily for stability and addressing any security vulnerabilities in GTA Online, more so than anything else.
Read on for what the developers have to say about today’s title update.
GTA 5 New Update Released Solely on PS5
Rockstar’s acknowledgement of the patch mentions the following:
General
-
General fixes for stability and security
That’s about it, and again, this is more for GTA Online security holes than anything else. One doesn’t need to look far to see holes in the game’s security when it comes to exploits and other vulnerabilities.
There was also a patch released on Oct. 16, which had the following fixes:
Slasher (Ramius Submarine) – October 16 to November 6
-
A new variation of the existing Slasher Adversary Mode, based inside the Ramius Submarine, is available for players
Earlier in the month, Rockstar also ushered in Creator updates and GTA Online’s Halloween event.
Creator Updates
-
Island Zombie Shambler and Island Zombie Runner added to the Squad Presets configuration menu in the Survival Creator
Halloween – October 2 through November 6
-
Players can take part in returning Halloween content
We’re not expecting any new patch for the game, as major updates are usually announced by Rockstar in advance. If we do get news about it, expect it here on MP1st.
In related news, it’s been six months since Rockstar released the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, and we’re all hoping we get another one before 2025 is over.
GTA 6 is set for release in May 2026, and so far, a lot of the game is still a mystery.
