Helldivers 2 New Update 1.006.250 Released for Upscaling Support on May 29
While it wasn’t released on time, Arrowhead Game Studios’ promised optimization improvements and upscaling support for Helldivers 2 are now live! Called patch version 6.2.5, console gamers will see this as Helldivers 2 update 1.006.250, and this significantly improves the visual efficiency of the game.
Alongside the optimization, there are also bug fixes included, with the complete details available in the official patch notes below.

- Added Variable Rate Shading (VRS) for supported devices
- VRS can help improve performance by reducing shading rates on certain areas of the image, resulting in less work for the GPU for similar looking close pixels
- Added support for DRS on PC and PS5
- With the introduction of DRS on all platforms we have also upped the resolution on Xbox Series X and PS5 to 1440p in the Performance preset
- We have also upped the resolution in PS5 Power Saver mode to 1440p
- Added NVIDIA’s Reflex for NVIDIA GPU’s
- Added AMD’s Anti-Lag 2 for AMD GPU’s
IMPORTANT NOTE: Console players will have upscaling enabled by default, and PC players can choose to activate upscaling. We are excited to hear your feedback on these long-awaited additions!
Fixes
- Fixed an issue where Helldivers were unable to manually climb small obstacles and ledges without auto-climb.
- Fixed multiple rendering issues and improved performance and image quality across all platforms.
- Added additional resolution options in the display settings for monitors with a wide range of available resolutions.
- Improved the performance of the high reflection setting.
- Improved VRAM management on PC to improve performance on systems with limited VRAM.
- Inviting non-friends via the social menus recent-tab will now send a PSN system invite if both are on PSN
Outside of today’s fixes, there are still a significant number of bugs in the game that have yet to be resolved, which we’ve included below.
Helldivers 2 Known Issues as of May 29, 2026
New
- Using Chinese and Japanese IME will prevent movement and controls in-game.
- The Lumberer and Flame Sentry are not correctly dealing damage at very close range
- MGX-42 Bullet Storm’s muzzle flash may not be aligned with the weapon
- The Terminate Illegal Broadcast objective can sometimes not be completed
- Changes to weapon patterns reset to default after restarting the game
- ‘Remember weapon functions’ may not be working correctly on some weapons
- Illuminate Stingray may not always attack Helldivers
- The game is unable to launch on Linux/Steam Deck
- Update! Proton has released a hotfix that resolves this issue, and should let you play again!
- To do this, go to the properties for Helldivers 2 on Steam, select the Compatibility tab, check “Force the user of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool” and choose ‘Proton Hotfix’ from the list!

Technical
- Players who are using the Microsoft IME languages are unable to type Korean, Japanese and Chinese symbols in chat.
- User may not hear other users on Voice Chat in a cross-play lobby.
Gameplay
- Explosives can cause Helldivers hidden behind terrain to ragdoll
- Weapon customization doesn’t correctly display stats for sway and reload times
- Some attachments and their stats are not changed in preview until purchasing and equipping.
- Melee kills are not being correctly counted in the end-of-mission stats or career stats
- Helldiver may not be able to manually climb small obstacles or ledges in places where it is possible with the auto-climb.
- MLS-4X Commando unguided mode does not work
- Network Desync between players can cause the collision to be inconsistent on enemy corpses
- Oil/dirt/blood and other visual effects sometimes stain armor and/or helmet, making it jet black
- Network Desync can cause SEAF Artillery shells to not be inserted properly, causing a soft lock
- The ‘Operated By’ text under the Super Destroyer name is not showing the Player’s nickname
- LAS-7 Dagger Beam can sometimes hit the player’s own SH-51 Directional Shield
- Points of interest do not grey out on mini map when found within a colony
- Hellpod Avoidance Areas are inconsistent with Player’s POV
- Red Beacon Stratagems do not follow beacon when it changes location
Expect these issues to be whittled away via upcoming updates.
