V Rising 1.0 Saves and Invaders of Oakveil Content
With every update to V Rising, we’ve brought major changes to systems, features, units, and the map that make the game fundamentally incompatible with saves on earlier versions. So with this next patch, just like the others that have come before it, you will be required to play on a new save to experience the new content.
With every update, we also recognize that you don’t want to lose your progress, and if you’re anything like us, you become very attached to the castles you’ve built and the adventures you’ve taken, and perhaps most importantly, the hats you’ve collected. For this reason, we provide a backlog of older versions so that you can play an older branch of V Rising and load up your previous saves. In this way, as long as you have the save, you can always finish your journey on that version, or just visit to marvel at all of your accomplishments. Sit on your throne, say hello to your servants, and make sure they haven’t stumbled into any stakes.
In Update 1.1, this is going to work a little differently. For your convenience, we’re essentially going to have the ability to play both 1.0 and 1.1 saves on the same client. So you won’t have to change your version to switch freely between a 1.0 and 1.1 game. However, please know that this does not mean you can play a 1.0 save with the new content from 1.1. You will still need a new save to do that.
Please also be aware that if you are running a 1.0 dedicated server, it will not show in the server list after April 28. To connect to a server running the 1.0 version, you will need to connect directly to the IP, P2P code, or join through a friend’s list.
You might also notice that the file size of V Rising is a bit bigger than it used to be. That’s because it contains two versions now! Our game doesn’t take up too much space, but even still, we apologize for the inconvenience.
For PlayStation 5
On the console, you can expect it to work identically to how it is listed above. You will be able to load both 1.0 and 1.1 saves, but you will not be able to experience the new changes on a 1.0 save. There should be no extra steps or effort taken to adjust your version; you just have to select the appropriate save with the knowledge that it will be locked into that version.
For server questions and info, check out Stunlock’s detailed blog post about it. With a patch this significant, don’t be surprised to see a follow-up update released to fix any issues that crop up.
