Nearly 3 years after the COVID-era player count spike, the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) concurrent player count record has been broken again with a staggering 1.32 million players online on last Saturday. During the COVID-19 lockdown, gamers returned in droves to fan-favorite FPS games as a way to pass time with friends during quarantine periods. Valve’s legendary CS:GO title was the highlight of this mass influx, achieving an unprecedented concurrent player count peak of 1,308,963 players on April 16, 2020.
The game has apparently maintained that resurgent popularity in the time since, with its concurrent player count routinely surpassing one million players during and after the pandemic. The previous record was finally broken at roughly 8am ET on February 11, when CS:GO’s concurrent player count reached 1,320,219 players. This new peak beats the April 2020 one by over 11,000 players, and serves as testament to the timelessness and longevity of CS:GO.
