2K to Reveal Sequel to One Of Its “Biggest and Most Beloved Franchises” Next Month at Summer Game Fest

It looks like 2K Games has something big to announce next month, as a sequel is about to be unveiled and it’s about one of 2K’s “biggest and most beloved franchises.”

This was revealed by the Summer Game Fest X account, where it mentions that the reveal will happen on June 7.

While no other hint has been given outside of the announcement, we do have some guesses as to what it could be.

It could be Hangar 13’s Mafia 4, as the studio confirmed in 2022 that the game is in development though it is “years” away. Well, it’s been two years, so we could be getting a a reveal this June 7 for a 2025 release.

If not that, perhaps it’s the BioShock franchise? While the last BioShock game was released back in 2013 (BioShock Infinite), 2K announced back in 2019 that Cloud Chamber was working on a new BioShock game but that was also years away. Well, it’s been a few years already, which fits the bill for this, no?

Another potential candidate for the reveal is Borderlands 4. It’s no secret how well the franchise has sold for developer 2K, and this is one of those instances where even if there’s no announcement, you can bet that Gearbox is doing something with the IP especially since there’s a movie coming out about it soon.

The wait won’t be long now, as we should know what this announcement is on June 7 — assuming things don’t leak.
