Helldivers 2 Upscaling Support, Advanced Visual Optimizations Set to Roll Out on May 27
While Helldivers 2 might not be as loved by its player base now as it was once before, Arrowhead Game Studios is still hard at work on not only adding content to the game, but also delivering on community requests.
On May 27, one of the most requested features by the community is finally becoming a reality and that’s upscaling support on consoles and PC.
Not only that, but a bunch of technical improvements are set to roll out next week, which will make the game more stable, reduce latency and of course, support upscaling.
Helldivers 2 Upscaling Support Finally Dropping on May 27
When we say this is one of the most requested items from the community, we mean it. Just take a look at the flood of Discord messages:
When it comes to upscaling support, Arrowhead said they have integrated the latest upscaling solutions tailored to each gamer’s specific hardware.
-
PC
-
- FSR (High-End): 4.0.3 (on supported GPUs)
- FSR 3.1.5, DLSS 4.5, and XeSS 3.0 support.
- FSR (High-End): 4.0.3 (on supported GPUs)
-
PS5 Pro: PSSR 1
-
PS5: FSR 3.1
-
Xbox: FSR 3.1
Advanced Visual Optimizations
Beyond upscaling resolution, the developers are also introducing several features for a smoother gameplay experience and optmized GPU workload.
-
Variable Refresh Rate (VRR): Now supported for PS5 and PS5 Pro to reduce any potential stuttering from V-Sync without screen tearing on supported displays.
-
Variable Rate Shading (VRS): This technology intelligently reduces shading rates in certain areas of the image, decreasing GPU load while maintaining visual quality where it matters.
-
Dynamic Resolution Scaling (DRS): Integrated for both PS5, Xbox Series X and PC to maintain stable frame rates during more graphically demanding scenarios.
-
Increased resolution to 1440p in the “Performance” preset on PS5 and Xbox Series X, as well as the “Quality” preset on PS5 Power Saving Mode.
-
Reduced Latency for Split-Second Reactions
Arrohwad is also working with hardware patners to reduce input latency.
- NVIDIA Reflex: Now available for users with NVIDIA GPUs to sharpen responsiveness.
- AMD Anti-Lag 2: Fully supported for AMD GPU users to ensure your inputs are registered instantly.
The optimization and other technical improvements are all set to drop on May 27 for consoles and PC.
Arrowhead adds, “we’re not stopping there, Helldivers. This is just the opening salvo in an ongoing campaign to improve performance across the fleet. Following this release, we’ll be closely monitoring all platforms and hardware configurations, keeping a sharp eye out for anything that needs tuning, and deploying further adjustments as required. We’re also preparing a dedicated tech-focused update later this summer to push these improvements even further.”
Once the patch is live, expect it here on MP1st.
In other news, while Helldivers 2 was released on PC and eventually on Xbox platforms, don’t expect other PlayStation-published games without a live-service focus to be available on any gaming device outside the PlayStation brand.
