While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 was just announced yesterday, Activision might have more Call of Duty announcements on the way if recent ratings that have surfaced are to be believed.

Recently, the Korean Ratings Board, which has outed a lot of games before their official announcement, has rated two classic Call of Duty titles.

Instead of a re-release, this seems to be more of a remaster, given these games have to pass the ratings board again.

Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 Probably Getting a Re-Release

The Korean Ratings Board has rated both the first Black Ops and Black Ops 2, and the last time this happened to a Call of Duty game, we got Modern Warfare Remastered.

Black Ops‘ reason for grade determination included:

Set during the Cold War, FPS games where participants participate in various operations and battles. Excessive violence (realistic depiction of various firearms during battles, including bloodstaining and bodily harm), excessive vulgarity, profanity (frequently used with vulgar language like f**k, b*tch, sh*t, etc.).

As for Black Ops 2, its grade determination listed:

From 1973 to 2025, an FPS game based on the story of the CIA and JSOC racing against time to prevent terrorist attacks by sniping terrorists. It contains excessive violence (realistically depicting various firearms during combat, including bloodstaining and bodily harm), excessive vulgar, profanity, and profanity (with frequent use of vulgar language such as f**k, b*tch, sh*t, etc.).

While this seems like a re-release is imminent, I wouldn’t get too excited. Chances are, if it ever comes to fruition, this will be just for both games’ campaigns only, and not include multiplayer, which is considered by many to be the best in the franchise.

Sure, Activision could add multiplayer, but it doesn’t make a lot of sense for the publisher to cannibalize the online player base of Modern Warfare 4 with the re-releases, right?

As a huge Black Ops 2 fan, I want to see Black Ops 2’s multiplayer brought back to life with better graphics and support. Perhaps that might be in the cards? We honestly can’t say for certain right now. Bear in mind, neither Microsoft nor Activision has yet to formally announce these two games, but given the Korean Ratings Board’s history, it’s only a matter of time until we hear both games are being released again.

With the Summer Game Fest and Xbox Games Showcase both airing in June, this is the perfect avenue for Microsoft and Activision to announce the remasters.

In other Call of Duty news, Modern Warfare 4 will offer two Prestige paths, as a ton of info about the game’s multiplayer is now known.
