GTA 5 Free Upgrade From PS4/XB1 to PS5/XBX Stars Tomorrow; GTA Online July Update Announced
Things are heating up for Grand Theft Auto fans! While there’s still no fresh news on GTA 6, those looking forward to it can prepare themselves with a free upgrade for GTA 5!
Rockstar Games announced today that those who own GTA 5 on PS4 and Xbox One will be able to upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions, respectively.
Not only that, but GTA Online will be getting a major update in July and we have the first details.
GTA 5 Free Console Upgrade Starts June 18
Per Rockstar Ganes, “Beginning tomorrow, those who own any PS4 version or the digital Xbox One version of Grand Theft Auto V will be able to upgrade to the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S versions at no additional cost, and experience the best versions of GTAV and GTA Online ahead of the launch of The Kortz Center Heist.”
The current-gen console versions of the hit game includes technical improvements, easy migration of the Story Mode and Online progression in GTA Online, and new featrures such as Hao’s Special Works high-performance vehicles and upgrades, Career Progress rewards and more.
For PC players, you can also experience all these updates alongside PC-exclusive features such as ray-traced ambient occlusion and global illumination by upgrading from Legacy to Enhanced for free.
GTA Online Will See the Kortz Center Heist in July
In July, GTA Online players will be able to tackle The Kortz Center Heist. This will feature special events, bonus GTA$ rewards, “record-breaking” discounts , and opportunities to claim rare and exclusive treasures through the Fine Art Collector program.
Whether a solo heist or as part of a larger crew, players will be able to experience the new heist sometime in July.
Expect more details and the release date to be announced before the update is rolled out.
When it comes to Grand Theft Auto 6, the gamer is still set for release in November, and we can expect a trailer or something to happen sometime this month, as Take-Two has said marketing will start in “late June.”
Speaking of marketing, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said they have a “broad-based” marketing campaign for GTA 6 compared to GTA 5.
