Konami’s efforts to bring back the Silent Hill series have been very successful, apart from the mixed response to Silent Hill Ascension and the latest movie.

The success of Silent Hill 2 Remake and The Short Message was followed by the release of Silent Hill f and the equally impressive Silent Hill: Townfall, which has just launched. With a remake of the original Silent Hill game coming next, Konami is already planning even more games for the series.

The series’ producer recently confirmed that several Silent Hill games are in development, and he has now shared more about Konami’s plans. According to him, the company is already working on a second and third wave of games for the coming years, although he has not revealed any titles yet.

Motoi Okamoto gave an interview to Famitsu (via GameObserver), where he looked back at the Silent Hill games released so far and discussed the future of the franchise.

“All three titles we initially announced were able to be released successfully, so we’re relieved (laughs),” he said. “They’ve also received high praise, and we are satisfied with it.”

Konami is now looking ahead and has already started planning two more waves of Silent Hill games. “Successfully launching this ‘first wave’ comes with great relief, but we’re not stopping here; we must think of the second and third waves,” Okamoto said.

Of course, he did not reveal what the games will be like, but confirmed that they are working on several projects. “We can’t share specific details, but we’re currently looking at a number of projects.”

So far, the remake of the first Silent Hill is the only officially confirmed upcoming game. However, other future games could also be developed by outside studios, just like the recent titles made by Bloober Team, Screenburn, and NeoBards Entertainment.

It is also likely that they will continue telling stories that do not take place in Silent Hill itself. In fact, the producer has shown interest in having future games explore the folklore of other countries.

What is clear is that Konami’s decision to approve several Silent Hill games is something to celebrate. In fact, convincing the company to develop these games was not easy. “From my perspective, just one remake is not enough; as a producer, I cannot let it end only with that,” Okamoto said, explaining that he worked hard to convince Konami’s management.

The producer also admitted that the reputation of the series had been in doubt following the cancellation of Hideo Kojima’s Silent Hills. “If there were only one release, wouldn’t people think that the development is going to be cancelled again, I thought,” he added.

Now that Silent Hill: Townfall has been released, Konami is expected to gradually reveal more details about its future plans for the series, including the games that will make up the second wave of its comeback.

Meanwhile, Bloober Team has officially moved to a multi-project development structure, allowing it to work on several games at once, maintain a steady flow of releases, and avoid long gaps between major titles.
