Activision Blizzard has released their most recent financial report for Q2 2023, and it includes some key information relating to the company’s revenue and player counts, among other things. Of the information presented in the report, a few stand out, including PC and mobile earnings exceeding console revenue, and Call of Duty’s monthly player count sitting at 90 million players.

The table below lists down all the net revenues of Activision Blizzard by platform in the past three months and six months, respectively. The six-month revenue amounts total at $1.19 billion for console, $1.26 billion for PC, and $1.9 billion for mobile devices. The three-month period shows a similar spread, with console ranking lowest at $556 million, PC at $594 million, and mobile at $943 million.

Activision Blizzard’s foothold in the mobile gaming industry isn’t surprising, with its highly successful Call of Duty Mobile title, among other games. Still, it’s surprising that PC revenue exceeds that of console revenue, given the accessibility of both previous-gen and current-gen consoles today.

Speaking of CoD, Activision also revealed that the franchise has around 90 million monthly players. Here’s the full statement taken from the financial report:

Call of Duty approaches its 20-year anniversary in October with around 90 million monthly players, with over half of all engagement on the mobile platform. Activision’s teams are hard at work on major new installments in the franchise slated for the fourth quarter. Development of this year’s full annual premium release on PC and console is proceeding well. Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile™, an ambitious, internally developed mobile game tightly integrated with the PC and console experience, continues to progress through regional testing.

The report also claimed that the company’s in-game net bookings for Modern Warfare 2 were the highest it’s ever been this season, thanks in part to the introduction of the BlackCell battle pass.

Second quarter in-game net bookings were higher than both the first quarter and the year ago period, with Season 3 being the highest-grossing Modern Warfare II in-game season to date, driven by a strong community response to gameplay enhancements and the new BlackCell battle pass offering. Our teams are looking forward to releasing additional seasons of new content and ongoing community updates in the coming months.

With BlackCell being a divisive inclusion to Call of Duty’s premium content lineup, Activision’s report shows that more players are willing to shell out the extra $30 for exclusive cosmetics than people think.
