Alan Wake 2 Sales at Over 1 Million, Remedy’s Fastest Selling Game So Far

Remedy Entertainment has revealed the Alan Wake 2 sales figures, and it seems it’s safe to say that Alan Wake 3 is happening. According to the studio, at the end of December 2023, Alan Wake 2 has already sold one million units, with that number jumping to 1.3 million units sold at the beginning of February 2024.

Alan Wake 2 Proves to Be a Financial Success for Remedy at Over 1.3 Million Copies Sold Since Feb. 2023

In comparison to other Remedy titles, Alan Wake 2 has sold over 50 percent more copies and over three times more digital copies in its first two months than Control did in its first four months. Since its release in 2019, Control has sold over four million units, and has generated a net revenue of approximately 100 million EUR (around $107 million USD).

Remedy believes Alan Wake 2 will have a long tail in terms of sales, and the studio plans to continue promoting and supporting the horror game. There are two planned paid DLCs that will continue the story, and of course, game updates are still planned to be rolled out too.

Here’s what Remedy CEO Tero Virtala had to say about Alan Wake 2’s sales numbers:

“We are happy with the start of Alan Wake 2’s sales. The price point has also remained at a high level, and the game has already recouped a significant part of the development and marketing expenses. We will continue to develop the game to serve existing fans and attract new players and expect the game to continue selling well.” Tero Virtala continued: “The successful launch of Alan Wake 2 has supported our other game projects: Condor, Control 2 and Max Payne 1&2 remake have all increased development pace thanks to the personnel released from Alan Wake 2, and we expect these projects to reach their next development stages during the first half of 2024. We now have two established franchises: Control and Alan Wake, which are linked through the Remedy Connected Universe. Growing and expanding these franchises will be a key part of our future.”

If you haven’t played the game yet, I suggest remedying (heh) that as soon as possible. Even if you haven’t played the original, there’s still so much to love in Alan Wake 2. Go read our review why we think so highly of it, and it was even our Game of the Year for 2023!
