Report: Alan Wake 2 Datamine Reveals More Control Tie-Ins for Upcoming DLC and Expansions

Spoiler warning for everyone out there: Alan Wake 2 has been datamined, with information surfacing for not only New Game Plus but also for one of the game’s upcoming expansions.

If you haven’t beaten Alan Wake yet, now might be the time to turn back as we’ll be discussing the content of the datamine, which some might consider spoiler-ish. Still with us? Alright, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Typically, we don’t take 4Chan leaks seriously, as often there is no proof provided, but in the case of the datamined content for Alan Wake 2, video proof of what the user has claimed has now surfaced, adding credibility to this leak.

First, we already know that Alan Wake 2 is getting a New Game Plus, with Sam Lake previously teasing that the free DLC would be significant. Based on this leak, when NG+ is added to Alan Wake 2, new endings will also be introduced at the end of NG+. For those who beat the game, it ends on a cliffhanger, which NG+ seemingly addresses.

Further, a character briefly teased throughout the game makes a full appearance. Like some characters, such as Thomas Zane and Alice, they’ll communicate with the character via video recording. That character? None other than Dr. Darling himself, who many will remember being a character prominently shown throughout Control.

Per the leaks, he supposedly ties Alan Wake 2 into the planned Lake House DLC, which has been previously confirmed to feature both Alan and Saga.

There’s nothing on the Night Springs DLC from this datamine, despite being the first planned paid DLC to drop. That may be due to it being potentially more of a side story, as it’ll feature other characters instead of Alan and Saga.

Nonetheless, it’s clear that Remedy plans to push the whole shared universe idea even further with upcoming updates and DLC. Alan Wake 2 already featured plenty of that, from Ahti the Janitor to the Federal Bureau of Control.

We can only speculate that this will all eventually lead into Control 2, though whether Alan Wake or Saga Anderson will be featured throughout it will be interesting to see.

Alan Wake 2 is now available for purchase on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
