Alan Wake 2 Director Has Been Co-Directing an Unannounced Remedy Game Since 2025
Remedy Entertainment may already have another major game in development following the recent release of Control Resonant, as Alan Wake 2 co-director Kyle Rowley has revealed that he has been co-directing an unannounced project at the studio since January 2025.
The information comes from Rowley’s LinkedIn profile, which lists him as co-director on an unannounced game dating back to January 2025. Remedy has yet to officially reveal the project or provide any details regarding what it could be. Rowley previously served as co-director on Alan Wake 2 alongside Sam Lake and also worked on the game’s expansions.
Naturally, the discovery has already led to speculation about what Remedy could be working on next.
One obvious possibility is Alan Wake 3. Remedy has previously discussed its plans for the future of the Alan Wake franchise, and Rowley’s involvement would certainly make another entry seem plausible. The third chapter in the horror saga even got a mention in an analyst report two years ago. In short: we know it’s incoming, we just don’t know when.
Aside from Alan Wake, we already know Remedy is also working on Control 2. Fans have also speculated that Remedy could be working on another project connected to its growing universe of interconnected games. Other possibilities have been discussed online as well, including a potential return to Quantum Break, although Microsoft owns the rights to that franchise. For now, all of these possibilities remain speculation.
Control Resonant also recently received a major update that adds New Game++ and improvements to the game, giving players even more reason to jump back into Remedy’s latest supernatural adventure. The update arrives shortly after launch and continues the studio’s support for the game, addressing player feedback while expanding the experience with additional features and fixes.
With Control Resonant now available, Remedy has plenty of attention on its next projects. The studio is also working on the Max Payne 1 and 2 remake with Rockstar Games, making the discovery of another unannounced project particularly noteworthy.
For now, Remedy has not announced what Rowley and the team have been working on since 2025. Whether it turns out to be Alan Wake 3, another project set within Remedy’s connected universe, or something entirely new, fans will have to wait for the studio’s official announcement. If it is Alan Wake 3, that’d be no surprise, and we’d welcome it with open arms — especially how great Alan Wake 2 was.
