Max Payne 1 and 2 Remakes Still in Full Production Years After Announcement, Alan Wake 2 and Control Resonant Reach New Milestones
It has been more than four years since Remedy and Rockstar announced the Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes, and while there is still no release date, Remedy has once again confirmed that both games are still in full production.
Remedy says the two remakes are in “full production,” confirming that development continues to move ahead.
However, anyone hoping for more details will have to wait a little longer.
Remedy Keeps Quiet on Max Payne 1 and 2 Remakes

When asked about the projects, Remedy CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon pointed to Rockstar Games, “There’s a lot of questions concerning Max Payne; on that game, Rockstar Games is handling the publishing side, so we can’t comment on those questions.”
Rockstar has full authority over the remakes. The company owns the Max Payne license and is also fully financing both games.
The update comes from Remedy’s latest financial report, which also brings some interesting numbers for Alan Wake 2 and the upcoming Control Resonant.
Alan Wake 2 has now sold more than 3 million copies since its release in October 2023. Because of its initial PC exclusivity with Epic Games, the game took some time to become profitable, while Remedy later also had to deal with the poor performance of FBC: Firebreak.
Remedy’s revenue has now fallen, making Control Resonant a very important release for the studio. The game has already reached 1.5 million wishlists across consoles and PC ahead of launch.
Gaudechon has high expectations for the game. He said, “We position CONTROL Resonant as a must-have day-one purchase while also building CONTROL into a lasting franchise. In a competitive autumn window, we believe the distinctiveness and quality of the game will make it stand out.”
Speaking of Control Resonant, it is scheduled to launch on September 24 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. In addition, Remedy has shared new details about Control Resonant, including how long the game will take to complete and the main inspirations behind it.
