Thanks to a potential Windows store glitch, Xbox gamers can claim Alan Wake Remastered for the low, low, low price of free.

But you better act quickly, as this may be a store glitch that will likely get fixed soon.

Alan Wake Remastered Is Free on Some Windows Storefronts, But it Might Be a Bug

As spotted by deal profissao Wario64 on X, Xbox gamers can claim Alan Wake Remastered for free. Now, there are some steps to do so, and it doesn’t look like it’s available across every region. We tested it ourselves (based out of North America) and can confirm this works. It won’t hurt to try it, as it only requires you to have a Microsoft account.

Here’s what you need to do, and in this exact order:

That’s it; Alan Wake Remastered will now be in your library and playable on Xbox consoles. Now, we reckon this is likely a bug of sorts, as purchasing Alan Wake 2 during Xbox’s Lunar New Year sale will give you the remaster for free. Seeing that claiming the trail appears to make the storefront think you purchased the game, therefore giving you Alan Wake Remastered for free, it’s probably a bug.

So, don’t be surprised if Microsoft eventually revokes the purchase, as they have with other games and products. Still, on the off chance that they don’t, it would be better to hurry up and claim it before they fix it! Oh, and after you beat it, be sure to check out Alan Wake 2, one of the best games we’ve ever reviewed
