Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 5 Release Planned This Week, Comes With Act 3 Fixes and More

Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 5 Preview Releaset Date

Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 5 aims to arrive this week, as Larian Studios has confirmed a few fixes coming, including fixes for slowdowns during Act 3, Astarion’s kiss animation, and more!

Those who have put off Baldur’s Gate 3 because of all the issues during Act 3, will be glad to know that the next upcoming patch for Baldur’s Gate 3, Patch 5, is due to arrive this week with some fixes addressing those issues.

As posted, on X by Larian Studio, below is a short preview of what to expect.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 5 Preview

  • Fixes the eternally-active acts of thefts & violence causing slowdowns
  • Fixes Astarion’s little kisses
  • And more!

Larian’s Director of Publishing, Michael Douse further expanded on the Act 3 fixes, noting that the slowdowns were caused by a bug that kept on stacking overtime

“The slowdowns were caused by a specific bug in Moonrise that caused a systemic error that stacked over time, which means the further you got the worse it got.”

For many, Act 3 has been a completely broken mess, making the game nearly impossible to complete due to NPCs trailing off. Slowdowns had been the commonality with most users, plaguing all platforms, though some PC players have been able to work around this. PS5 players have been left waiting for the studio to patch it.

We’re glad to see this finally be addressed, and let’s keep our fingers crossed that this resolves all the major Act 3 issues in Baldur’s Gate 3.

As for those who are either waiting for the Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3, or the physical release, you’ll likely not have to worry about these issues as those versions of the game should include this patch once they’ve launched.
