Battlefield 2042 Pre-Production on “All New Content” Has Started, Coming After Season 4 Says DICE

Battlefield 2042 Controller Default Mapping Changes

While Battlefield 2042 didn’t fare as well as the other past entries in the franchise, it looks like DICE has something more planned beyond Season 3 and Season 4.

As part of the dev update for the game that aired earlier today, EA has also put up a text version of the presentation where it says:

We’re also excited to share that we’ve recently started pre-production on all new content that will come after Season 4, next year. Our work on Battlefield 2042 isn’t done.

This is definitely comforting news for those pouring hours into the game, as this basically confirms what some fans of the game have been dreading: that DICE will abandon the game once Season 4 is over.

What’s interesting here is, DICE didn’t exactly say a “new season” is coming after Season 4, but rather, just confirming that new content is coming. Could this be the game’s last content drop? Your guess is as good as mine.

Also revealed today is that BF2402 will join the Xbox Game Pass service in time for the new season’s launch, and the highlight of the presentation. the reveal of the Season 3 Specialist “weapon proficiencies” as well as new Vault Weapons coming in Season 3, which are all detailed here.

Before Season 3 launches, DICE has also announced the game’s first-ever double XP weekend, which starts today!
