Battlefield 2042 Season 1 Launches in 2022, Details Coming “Early Next Year”

battlefield 2042 season 1

With Battlefield 2042, EA is focusing on the live services aspect of the game, which is par for the course when it comes to multiplayer shooters these days. This means that we’ll be getting seasonal content in the form of new maps, Specialists, weapons and more. For those wondering when Battlefield 2042 Season 1 will start, it won’t be this year as confirmed by EA.

EA confirmed that Battlefield 2042 Season 1 won’t be starting until 2022, with info set to be delivered “early next year.” Here’s what EA had to say regarding post-launch support for BF2042:

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER LAUNCH

Launch is only the beginning.

We’re taking a new approach to live service with not only a commitment to new content, but a goal of enhancing the Battlefield experience through seasons that will continue to evolve the world of Battlefield 2042.

In our first year of live service, we will deliver four Seasons, with four Battle Passes, four new Specialists, and new locations along with more fresh content. We also intend to deliver updates to Battlefield Portal that will give players more ways to build and share new Battlefield experiences with the world.

That means for Season 1, you can expect a new Specialist, Battle Pass and Portal content, and maybe even some new sights to see as the story of Battlefield 2042 continues to unfold. Expect more details early next year.

During launch we’ll also kick off the Preseason with Weekly Missions and Rewards, Limited Time Modes, featured Creator Spotlights and experiences in Battlefield Portal, and more!

Mind, given we’re already in November, it’s a bit much to ask that DICE release the first season in a month’s time (in December). But still, for those hoping for that, well, you can stop hoping.

Battlefield 2042 will officially launch on November 19 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
