Battlefield 3 Now $39.99 in NA, Expected Maintenance on Online Services Aug 7

Battlefield 3 drops in price for the North American market and DICE sets up to take services offline for maintenance tomorrow, August 7.

Via their official Facebook page, EA and DICE have announced a price-drop for Battlefield 3 in North America. “Battlefield 3 is now $39.99 only in North America. If you’ve been sitting on the fence, this is the perfect time to join our 15 million strong community and experience DICE’s award-winning shooter for yourself,” reads the update.

Now is a good a time as any, considering DICE’s plans to continue support for Battlefield 3 with upcoming expansions, Armored Kill and Aftermath.

Additionally, players on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 should be expecting an online service drop on August 7th from 05:00 GMT until 07:00 GMT, according to the notice banner found on the Battlefield 3 official forum. This drop in online services will, of course, affect online play across all three platforms.

No word yet on what the expected down time is for, though it is speculated that it is to prepare for the August bonus content drop for Battlefield Premium members that has yet to be revealed by DICE.

If it’s indeed the August bonus content drop for Battlefield Premium members, what do you wish it will contain? Feel free to tell us in the comment section below! Also, if you haven’t yet, will you be picking up Battlefield 3 now that the price has dropped?
