EA Is Giving a 50% Discount on Battlefield V for Those Who Own Battlefield 1 & BF4, Community Not Happy

savebfv

Do you own Battlefield V? Have you bought the last few Battlefield games made by DICE? If so, you’ll be glad to know that EA is offering a 50 percent discount on Battlefield V for those who own Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4!

This promotion can be seen just by booting up Battlefield 1 and/or BF4, where you’ll see the screens below:

While some might see this as a good deal, a lot of people in the Battlefield community aren’t happy given that most of them paid full price ($60) for Battlefield V when it launched, just two weeks ago.

Over on Reddit, the main Battlefield subreddit have multiple threads of people angrily complaining with EA’s latest marketing promotion since they paid full price for the game. Some are even clamoring for a class action lawsuit with what has transpired.

Is this a sign that Battlefield V sales aren’t performing as well as EA would have hoped and this is their way of hiking the player base up? Maybe, or maybe it’s just a marketing move by EA to ensure long-time Battlefield veterans jump ship to the newest title in the series. Of course, you can’t fault those who are angry for paying full price given we’re just 15 days from launch.

Are you OK with this marketing move by EA or do you feel that EA and DICE needs to compensate those who bought the game at full price when Battlefield V launched? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

lol couldn’t wait a month huh? especially right before black friday? maybe it’s time to get yourself some counseling because it sounds like you have an addiction and it is affecting your life.

if it makes you feel any better, i got it for free! because i waited for a deal on black friday. you should be a consumer first. in this day and age i don’t understand anyone who still pre-orders or buys first month when every single game goes on sale often within the first month of release. even red dead 2 was discounted at one retailer for $48 bucks two weeks after release.

i have no sympathy for uneducated whiners like you that worship ip or developers and then lament your day one privilege. your lack of self control and your woe is me buyers remorse is pathetic and disgusting. grow up.

Well I guess fuck me for getting excited about my hobby. And I guess fuck all my fiends too and us being excited to play a game we all enjoy together. I’m just a stupid asshole shill aren’t I? Guess I’ll go kill myself now. I’ll be sure to tell all my friends of your words of wisdom and hope they join my for one last horrah before we all slit are wrists in a collective fanboy suicide for being uneducated, simple-minded fans who don’t deserve to be in such a great presence as you two know-it-alls.

lol you just don’t get it do you? no matter how many times ea says it. they don’t make games for you, they make them for their shareholders.

they don’t care about you or your sixty dollars, they want the kid thats gonna spend 15k on microtransactions. that is their target audience, not you or i.

they have blundered bf5 launch so badly its the worst selling bf launch and their hole model is getting people playing and spending money ingame.

you should put yourself first, im reporting you for being suicidal.

Wahh some more about my wahhing.

I understand how the video game industry works just fine. That doesn’t mean I can’t bitch about it. I know damn well these games are gonna go on sale but I buy them anyway to have fun with my friends. Doesn’t mean I have to be happy about them bending me over in the process.

I’m reporting you for being a toxic instigating cunt.

“I know damn well these games are gonna go on sale but I buy them anyway to have fun with my friends. Doesn’t mean I have to be happy about them bending me over in the process.”

Then you deserve what you get. How often must they fuck you before you learn? If you and your friends play something else, something that isn’t designed to screw your wallet, would it be the death of you or something? Would you get sick if you couldn’t play Battlefield no matter how fucked up it is?

You honestly have nothing to report on the guy when you throw the first stone. The sad truth is, he is right about what you do.

Complain about it all you want. I do too. Difference is, I just don’t buy it anymore. I haven’t bought a new game day one in years. It actually saves me a lot of grief. Try it.

Nah, I’ll keep buying them so I can have the experience with my friends. That’s worth the money to me.

“Deserve what I get” isn’t exactly the nicest thing to say about somebody who has a hobby they get excited about. I’d reserve that statement for someone trying to grab a snapping turtle by the jaw. You get bit because of course you do. That’s obvious. Whether or not a company is going to discount a game isn’t. Sometimes you can tell, but sometimes you can’t. The gamble is what isn’t consumer friendly, especially when prices take advantage of the most hardcore fans by sucking money out of their excitement and the intense social aspect of the gaming community. If two or three or even one of your friends buys the new Battlefield (or whatever poison is yours) then you are much more likely to cave and get it even thought you know it’ll go on sale later. That’s the raping being done here. Big companies taking advantage of a community filled with camaraderie.

As you said, I can still complain and say that I don’t think it’s fair. People can call me names all they want about what I do with my money but at the end of the day it’s nobodies goddamn business what I spend it on and it’s none of their concern why I spend it. What they should concern themselves with is not being assholes to the poor saps like myself who either fall prey to these scams or who willingly choose to sacrifice my hard earned cash for that early week of game time with people I care about.

FYI I didn’t cast the first stone. That LordCancer (appropriate name btw) did by being intolerant.

BF4 was and is still a great game, glitches and all at the beginning… BF1 was absolute garbage and BF5 is to be determined, definitely not a great a game like 3 and 4 where it was worth the shoddy gameplay at the beginning of both; I don’t play Star Wars games but I heard it was a mess.

Even though I paid full price for this game, I am not put off by this in the slightest.

I bought the game and made a consumer decision based upon my own perceived value of the product at the time. If EA desires to entice more veteran BF players into the current player base of BFV, then that is awesome. We all benefit from that.

If people are upset about this, then they know nothing about business and how the real world works. Looks like some of these gamers need to grow up a bit.
