Battlefield 6 Deadzone Settings Seems to Be Broken and Here’s Proof

If you’re playing Battlefield 6 on consoles, you might have noticed instances wherein your crosshair or left stick seems to drift or have a mind of its own. If so, you’re not alone.

Apparently, there is something weird going on with the game’s deadzone settings, and it’s been plaguing everyone.

One Battlefield 6 player managed to find the root cause of it, and even has a video as proof.

Battlefield 6 Deadzone Settings on Consoles Is Broken

Battlefield 6 community member has posted a video showcasing how the deadzones are broken using controllers on consoles.

This is why controller feels bad. Upvote so devs see please.

From the community member:

“Notice my right stick movement and my aim. I have my center and axial deadzones set to 0 in the settings. Yes, my settings are optimal and correct, I know what I’m doing. There’s 2 problems here.”

  1. The deadzones don’t actually go to 0. No, I’m not confusing them with anything else, I’ve played competitive fps for 15 years, I know what I’m doing. The deadzones simply do not go to 0, even though I have them set to 0.
  2. The deadzone is a square shape, not a circular shape. Because it is a square shape, the diagonal input is not picked up within a certain range and will only move vertically or horizontally. It should be a circular shape. This could simply be an issue with the axial deadzone not going to 0, but I believe it is not just that. This isn’t a preference of mine, it is just a factually inferior method of approaching deadzones.

It seems this is something the members of the community agree with, as the most upvoted comment mentions, “I thought my Xbox controller had a serious case of stick drift. I then tried a different controller….It’s not me, it’s the fucking game.”

Based on my own personal observation, there is something off about it. At every start of match spawn screen, the left stick automatically drifts upper left. This was happening even during the beta, and has persisted to the game’s final release.

Whatever is causing it, this is something that’s been bugging both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S gamers since launch. This is a major issue, given that sometimes you need to spawn ASAP to help extend the match, and then you can’t, since you can’t even choose where you want to spawn. There’s also an issue with tank controls, which could very well be tied to this issue.

This issue could very well be present on the PC  version if you’re using a controller. If you’ve had this happe n to you, leave a comment and let us know.

Speaking of controls, check out this PC setting change that multiple people have said made the game’s aiming feel much better.

On PS5 and Xbox, the crosshairs move extremely far up to the left corner at the start of the round. It is also difficult to select a flag or a teammate you want to join because the crosshairs keep jumping back and forth. When running, the character always moves to the left unless you set the dead zones to +15 or higher. Driving a tank and aiming is impossible because it moves on its own.Ich hoffe dice kann die probleme mit dem nächsten patch beheben.

I hope DICE can fix these issues with the next patch.

Definitely happening on PC as well. You can mitigate it by clicking the right thumbstick as soon as it starts.

I thought it was just me!! I’ve had it happen before in some games, so I always figured it was my controller. This is good to know!

Steam player here. Thought my PC was having issues until I read this, can confirm i get the top left drift on spawn screens. Other weird things include not being able to adjust a slider in the options menu, pins it going one direction but only in one specific box. If you back out of the slider, it works fine. Go back in, still does it on the same option. Game reset fixed it. Weird.

I have mine set to zero, and yes, I always wondered why it all the way to the upper left. I play on an Xbox X.
