Battlefield 6 Server Tick Rate

With the launch of Battlefield 6 inching nearer and nearer, more info about the game is surfacing, though not everything is coming from Electronic Arts’ news announcements and press releases.

One thing that’s just been confirmed, though not by EA’s PR team, is the Battlefield 6 server tick rates and a few other details when it comes to visibility and more.

Battlefield 6 Server Tick Rate at 60hz at Launch

Over on X (formerly Twitter), Battlefield 6 Lead Producer David Sirland answered a few fan queries about the game. Chief among those answered is the server tick rate, and whether it will be increased at all.

Sirland answered, “60hz is the base for now.”

For those unaware, server tick rate is how often the game state updates, which in turn directly affects things like responsiveness and accuracy of things people see in-game. While what we experienced in the BF6 Open Beta isn’t terrible by any means, a higher tick rate means a much more responsive experience.

Not only that, but in the topic of Squad Reinforcements, Sirland confirmed it’s something “not planned for now.” If you’re not familiar with this mechanic, it was introduced in Battlefield 5, where the squad leader can call in rockets, vehicles, artillery strikes, and the like by accumulating “Requisition Points” in matches.

Another topic confirmed by Sirland is soldier visbility, which I admit, was a bit of an issue in some parts of a map during the beta. Sirland confirmed that it wil be improved, and “it’s per map,” meaning to not expect anything major like having teammates in a red outline or feature red lights and whatnot. Nonetheless, this is definitely good news for those who had issues seeing enemies against the different maps.

Lastly, Sirland also mentioned they are not planning to add manual leaning in the shooter, as they opted for a “peek & lean,” which beta players should have experienced. This allowed players to automatically peek from corners or even cover, and hide once you let go of ADS (aim down sight).

In other Battlefield 6 news, EA claims the console versions will be able to achieve 120 frames-per-second in Performance Mode. Not only that, but the Season 1 content roadmap has also been revealed, and there’s a lot of stuff to take in.

I wonder why they aren’t adding higher tickrate than 60hz from the get go. BF4 had up to 144hz.
