Report: Following Battlefield 6’s Super Successful Launch, EA Lays off Staff Across All BF Studios
Following the massive success of Battlefield 6’s launch last year that saw the game become the #1 best-selling premium title in 2025 (yes, even beating Call of Duty), it seems that isn’t enough, as the developers behind the first-person shooter are the latest studios hit with layoffs.
The layoffs affect all of Battlefield Studios, which consists of DICE, Ripple Effect, Criterion and Motive Studios.
No specific number was given on how many individuals have been affected for now.
Battlefield 6 Developers Hit With Layoffs Despite Breaking Sales Records
The layoffs are said to be a “realignment” across the Battlefield Studios. While all four development houses will remain operational, multiple teams across studios and offices will be impacted.
Publisher Electronic Arts has issued a statement to IGN stating, “We’ve made select changes within our Battlefield organization to better align our teams around what matters most to our community. Battlefield remains one of our biggest priorities, and we’re continuing to invest in the franchise, guided by player feedback and insights from Battlefield Labs.”
This certainly doesn’t paint EA in a good light, though I doubt a mega-corporation such as them cares what us plebeians think. If the best-selling game of the year isn’t safe from having its dev teams get the axe, who is?
The fact that Battlefield 6 has been bleeding players non-stop certainly couldn’t have helped, and it’s something we discussed about previously.
In other Battlefield 6 news, players are in outrage after a $50 premium skin that was sold in the in-game store was made free just a week later as part of the game’s challenges.
