With news surfacing that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will have a battle royale mode at launch, it seems EA’s Battlefield franchise might be following suit. According to a new report by VentureBeat, which also leaked the existence that this year’s Battlefield game will be titled “Battlefield V,” a prototype Battlefield V battle royale mode is being tested by the studio!
Now, before anyone jumps to conclusions, the same report mentions that DICE hasn’t exactly approved or confirmed this Battlefield battle royale mode into the game just yet, and as mentioned, is in the prototype stage for now. Additionally, it also states that even if the studio is happy with what it has so far, it won’t be ready in time for the game’s launch.
Will we see Battlefield V Battle Royale as a free title update? Given how DICE has handled past titles in the series post-launch, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this as a free title update or something part of Battlefield Premium.
EA has declined to comment regarding this report, but once we know more, we’ll be sure to let people know.
If there ever was a franchise that could theoretically handle battle royale or adapt to it easily, it could very well be the Battlefield franchise given its expansive levels, destructible environments and so on.

Adaptable bots for those that want to play bot matches along with a Battle Royale mode could make this the Best Battlefield Game Ever!!! if it is done the right way.
To this day Battlefield 2 remains my favorite but I am hopeful that Battlefield V could take the top spot.
All we need is Battlefield 3 ported to PS4
The Battlefield games have become pathetic….. Battlefield 5 will be no different. The last decent Battlefield game was BF3. All the BFs that followed are kiddie games.
Oh my God…. you are so right!!! But unfortunately… that will never happen for us. If EA/DICE ported BF3 to the PS4…. that would kill the sales of their new crap game of BF5! I’d go back to playing BF3 and rebuild my Clan on BF3 for years. We gave up on the Battlefield games… as soon as BF4 hit the market.
