Black Ops 6 biggest call of duty launch

It seems the four-year development cycle of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is worth it, as this year’s entry in the franchise has set records. This is something Microsoft has confirmed not only in their recent quarterly financials call today, but via a press release sent out as well.

This time around, it’s not Bobby Kotick giving the statement, but Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, since, y’know, he’s the biggest cheese of the company.

Black Ops 6 Sets Multiple Player Records

According to the press release, Black Ops 6 is now #1 in total players, #1 in hours played, and #1 in total matches! Mind, no actual numbers were given, and we expect none will be shared given this is Microsoft and all.

Nadella had this to say regarding the achievements:

“Last week’s launch of Black Ops 6 was the biggest Call of Duty release ever, setting a record for day one players, as well as Game Pass subscriber adds on launch day. Unit sales on PlayStation and Steam were also up over 60 percent year-over-year.”

Matt Cox, SVP and GM of the Call of Duty franchise, shared his thoughts as well.

“Thank you to our players around the world for making Black Ops 6 the biggest Call of Duty launch ever. Our goal from the start has been to bring this great game to as many players as possible wherever they are, however they play. Black Ops 6 is an amazing game, and the response from the Call of Duty community has been incredible. This is only the beginning. Nuketown is only days away and Season 1 is right around the corner. We’re just getting started.”

Given the game established highs on Steam, we’re not that surprised at this bit of info. Don’t forget, we’ll be getting Nuketown on November 1 as well, so more people should be jumping in.
