Black Ops and Black Ops 2 PlayStation Ports Releases in July; Includes Multiplayer
Earlier this month, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2 were added to the PlayStation Store backend, suggesting a re-release was in the cards.
It seems we don’t have to wait long for it, as today, Treyarch confirmed both games are being re-released on PSN this July!
Before anyone asks, yes, this re-release includes the campaign, multiplayer and Zombies.
Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 Re-release Is Only for PlayStation
According to Treyarch, the original Black Ops and Black Ops 2 are being ported to PlayStation (PS4, PS5) in July, and will be handled by Iron Galaxy.
The studio also confirmed it will feature campaign, multiplayer and Zombies. It’s unconfirmed for now, but based on the file sizes, it indicates that multiplayer DLC is included in the re-release, and if so, that’s definitely a huge plus.
While this is definitely good news, the big question here is: will the game’s multiplayer run on new servers or the existing ones now? If it’s latter, then, it’ll be hard to enjoy the experience given it’s infested with hackers. Who knows? Maybe this is the start of Activision cleaning it up for everyone?
As for those wondering why we’re not getting an Xbox or PC re-release, it’s simply because both titles are already available on those platforms. On Xbox, it’s available as part of the console’s backwards compatibility, while on PC, it’s available as it is, the same as before.
We’ve reached out to Activision regarding the servers and will let our readers know if it will feature new servers or the existing ones.
As for this year’s Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 4 will see its campaign early access on October 16, which is seven days earlier than the retail release.
Are you looking forward to jumping into Black Ops and Black Ops 2’s multiplayer once again? I know I am — as long as there’s no hackers, of course.
