Black Ops “First Phase” Update on PS4, PS5 Rolled Out to Tackle XP Hacks
If you bought Black Ops or even Black Ops 2 on PS4, PS5 when it was re-released last week, your matches might be ruined by hackers.
The first Black Ops multiplayer experience is ruined by an XP hack that will literally prevent players affected from playing the game, and is different from your usual wallhack and aimbot hacks.
Activision and Iron Galaxy have today, rolled out a playlist update, which they say is just the “first phase” of fixing this XP hack.
Black Ops PS4, PS5 XP Hack Receives First Fix
Per Activision, “The first phase of a fix to address an issue impacting player XP has been deployed.”
The changes include the retun of the Domination playlist that’s now been updated.
- Playlists have been updated with a server-side fix.
- Players with negative XP have been reset to Level 20 so they can begin progressing again.
Additional “mitigations” will be rolled out in future updates to further “reduce” these issues. No word on whether these will be playlist or client-side updates, but whatever the case, we’ll let our readers know once they’re live.
For those playing the ports, don’t forget, crossplay does work between PS4 and PS5, contrary to popular belief.
Hopefully, the other hacks and cheats are also dealt with as swiftly for both ports. Given how much these ports have sold so far (which we assume is a lot, given the reception from the Call of Duty community), it’s the least Activision can do.
