Borderlands 4 Faces Backlash Over $30 DLC That You Can Finish in Two Hours

At this point, Borderlands 4 should have been seen as the peak of the series, but several issues have affected its launch. The game had performance problems at release, and the Nintendo Switch 2 version was later delayed with no new date.
Now, the focus of the criticism has shifted to its DLCs, which have always been an important part of the franchise.
The first story DLC titled “Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned” was released this past week with a major title update that added new features.
New Borderlands 4 DLC Draws Complaints Over Price and Content

Players are now upset about the first story expansion. In forums like Reddit, many users are complaining about both the price and the content. The DLC follows Ellie, Moxxi’s daughter, on a mission to destroy an alien monolith and enter the “Vault of the Damned.”
It also adds a new Vault Hunter called C4SH the Rogue, along with new cosmetics, enemies, weapons, bosses, and a new area called Whispering Glacier.
However, players say the amount of content does not match the price. One user claims the DLC can be completed in two and a half hours, without rushing, and adds that it only has one memorable mission.
This short duration might be acceptable for cheaper content, but the DLC costs $29.99, which is close to the price of some full games. This has made many fans even more frustrated.
There are also complaints from players who bought the Super Deluxe Edition for $130 at launch. This version does not include the new DLC. One user said, “Bought the super deluxe and I got the stone demon free. But now I have to pay for the dlc and c4sh. I ain’t dropping another $32usd for a total of $170usd on a fucking half assed game.”
Some players have tried to defend Gearbox. In Borderlands 3, story DLC and new Vault Hunters were sold separately, which could explain the higher price of this pack.

There is bad information in this article and there’s missing information that may add to context.
First of all, the DLC *is* included in the Super Deluxe version. Claiming it’s not is misleading at best. There is, or was, an issue specifically related to Steam where some people weren’t getting credited with the DLC, and you can contact support to remedy the problem while Gearbox prepares a patch to rectify the situation. The quoted person was misinformed and the fact that that specific comment was cherry picked is questionable.
Secondly, the DLC does cost $29.99. Previous DLCs in Borderlands 3 cost $14.99. But they didn’t include a new Vault Hunter. New Vault Hunter characters in Borderlands 2 and the Pre Sequel cost $9.99 as separate purchases. Obviously adding that up you get $24.98, $5 shy of the current price, and those examples are from over 10 years ago. The current price is absolutely comparable, especially given the previous DLCs were also about as long as this one.
People’s opinions are obviously subjective but the way this written paints a misleading picture.
I was about to say the same thing. This the the exact reason game journalism is dying. You have reviewers just completely out of touch with what players like and don’t like then misinformation like this. Its better to just get all your news from twitch streamers at this point.
the super deluxe edition does contain the full DLC and new character. idk why some random person said it didn’t they probably didn’t enter the DLC code from the super deluxe. idk why you would post that too cause it’s giving everyone bad information. there are plenty of side missions in the DLC to do as well as more boss runs and loot farming. between that an a new character there’s plenty of content.
we bought it and we agree its just a greedy flop of a game the its a shameful game and that clown is an absolute scumbag randy ?
