Capcom Games Sell More on PC Than on Consoles, and Almost All Sales Are Digital
Capcom is continuing to see huge success on PC, and the numbers are now even bigger than its console sales.
For the third year in a row, the company sold more games on PC than on consoles, showing how much the gaming market is changing.
Almost all of Capcom’s sales are also now digital, reaching 93% of total sales. More players are choosing digital games because they are more convenient, often cheaper during sales, allow pre-loading before release, and remove the need for physical discs.
More Players Are Choosing Digital Games as Capcom PC Sales Surge
According to the latest financial report (via TweakTown), during the 2025 fiscal year, which ended on March 31, the Japanese company sold nearly 60 million games, beating its own expectations by five million copies.
As mentioned earlier, PC was a big reason for this and has now become the company’s most important platform. Capcom sold 32.17 million copies on PC, while console sales reached 22.76 million copies.
This trend has been growing for years. Back in 2022, PC sales already made up 52% of Capcom’s total game sales, and that number has continued to rise until reaching today’s level.
One of the biggest reasons behind these strong sales is Capcom’s pricing strategy, which often includes discounts and promotions, something PC players usually pay close attention to.
The move toward digital gaming can also be seen across the wider industry, as Microsoft is reportedly developing a system called “Positron” that could allow players to convert physical Xbox games into digital licenses.
In other news, Capcom has confirmed that it is using generative AI in game development, but only for routine tasks like error checking, research, and data analysis.
