Dead Space Remake Dev Motive Studio Building a Team” Focused on Battlefield”

Motive Studio Battlefield

Following the closure of EA’s Ridgeline Games — a studio started by EA back in 2022 to work on the new Battlefield game’s single-player campaign — and the departure of its studio heads, EA has now tasked Motive Studios to help in developing the next entry in the franchise.

According to EA, Motive Studio is building a team “focused on Battlefield at their studio,” and joins DICE, Criterion and Ripple Effect in: “building a Battlefield universe across connected multiplayer experiences and single-player.”

While Motive Studios might be considered a “young” development house compared to DICE and Criterion, the dev team is no stranger to multiplayer games as it has worked on Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Star Wars: Squadrons. Motive’s latest game is the Dead Space remake released in January of last year, which we raved about in our review given how it’s one of the best remakes of a game in recent memory. In addition to that, Motive Studios is also working on a still-untitled Iron Man game though details about that remain scarce.

Chances are high that Motive is the one spearheading the campaign portion of the latest Battlefield game brewing at EA. However, this also means that unless EA plans to release a Battlefield game without a single-player campaign, we’re quite far off from playing a new game in the franchise given Motive is just now assembling a team for the brand.

If that’s the case, then Battlefield players will have a long wait, as EA has also announced that Season 7 for Battlefield 2042 is the last one, though players can still count on title updates, new events, and more to be dished out by DICE.
