Death Stranding Multiplayer Won’t Require PlayStation Plus

death stranding update 1.06

In case you haven’t heard, Death Stranding along with BetSwagger UK will offer a rather different multiplayer experience than what most players are typically use to, and while there won’t be any player versus player or cooperative play, many had speculated that the title heavy online influence may have been possibly been locked behind a paywall. Well, wonder no more as an official packaging shot has confirmed that the title will not require PlayStation Plus.

Over on the Limited Edition Death Stranding PS4 Pro pre-order page for GAME UK, in an official package shot of the Limited Edition PS4 Pro (exclusive to GAME in UK region) we can see in the fine print the following text.

Paid for Playstation plus subscriptoin required for online multiplayer sold separately. Death Stranding does not require PlayStation  plus subscription.

It really shouldn’t come as a surprise honestly as we mentioned above that the game won’t feature any type of PvP (that we know of) or full on cooperative play with other players. No instead players will be able to connect with one another and have some influence on each other’s world as items can be left behind for players, build bridges and structures, and even the terrain can be affected to the point that highways can be built. The only time a player can see another player (appears as a ghost like Sam) is when they summon them for help, though this is only to be given items if you are running short of supplies.

Still it is in the least nice to know that it won’t require an online subscription in order to use the online features. Death Stranding releases November 8, exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
