Embracer Group’s $300 Million Acquisition of Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal, and Square Enix Montreal Has Officially Completed

Back in May, Embracer Group announced that it has entered an agreement to acquire Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal, and Square Enix Montreal along with a catalog of IPs including Tomb Raider, Dues Ex, Legacy of Kain, and more for $300 million. Fast forward to today, in a press release, Embracer Group has revealed that the acquisition has officially been completed.

The press release reads:

“All conditions for the transaction, including regulatory approvals, have now been fulfilled and the transaction may be completed. Embracer has, therefore, today completed the acquisition.”

Furthermore, Embracer has announced that the newly-acquired companies will form the 12th operative group in Embracer and will be under the leadership of Phil Rogers and his management teams. They also say that further information will be given by Embracer at a “later date.”

This isn’t the last of Embracer’s shopping spree. More recently, the company announced that it has entered an agreement to acquire IP rights for “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” franchises. You can find the full press release about the completed acquisition here.
